The 1977-78 edition of the BEC Varsity Girls Soccer team was comprised of senior players, Jenny-Lou Baldwin, Sharon Peckham, Susie Martin and Sharon Boudreau who had captured the Nova Scotia Provincial Soccer title as the rookie players on the 1974-1975 Varsity Girls Team.  The leadership of those senior players combined with the enthusiasm of the newest members of the team, created an unbeatable team that would capture the Nova Scotia Provincial title that year.  The Cape Breton league consisted of five fairly balanced teams and was considered the most competitive league in the province.  The Provincial finals were held in New Glasgow.  The semi-finals saw BEC defeating their old rivals, New Glasgow.  The next day, the BEC team defeated Dartmouth to capture the 1977-1978 Nova Scotia Provincial Title.

Members of the 1977-78 team were: Andrea Muise, Jenny White, Anita Cameron, Sharon MacIntyre, Sharon O’Donnell, Kathleen Casey, Danette Nearing-Guibord, Carmel Angot-Zinck, Susie Head, Tarryn Darling, Heather MacNeil, Charlene Bates, Laura Lee Gillis, Nancy MacIsaac, and Patti Watters.  Coaches Art Timmons, Marion MacNeil and Mike Tatlock.

The 1978-79 edition of the BEC Varsity Girls Soccer team was a good mix of senior and rookie players who had captured the provincial title the previous year.  The Cape Breton league was still considered one of the most competitive in the province.  After tough playoffs, Riverview, East Hants, New Glasgow and BEC were set to play in the four team provincial final format.  In the semi-finals, BEC again defeated their old rivals New Glasgow and went on to the championship game.  Timing was critical as BEC played its best game of the season against East Hants and captured the 3rd provincial title in female soccer at the school.
