Orillia, ONJohn Angione grew up in New Waterford and attended Mount Carmel School. John graduated from St. Francis Xavier University in 1969, beginning his 35 years of teaching at Mount Carmel in September of that year. He moved to Breton Education Centre when it opened in 1970 to teach French. Later, he became Department Head and presently, John is Vice-Principal at Breton Education Centre.
John's athletic career centered around two sports, soccer and hockey. John played soccer throughout his high school years at Mount Carmel and while there was a member of the team that won the first "Division One Soccer" title ever to come to New Waterford. John moved on to play both soccer and hockey at the college level.
John started coaching high school soccer at Mount Carmel when he began teaching and continued as Coach of the BEC Bears Division One Team for many years. He coached BEC to their first Division One Championship in soccer in 1971-72; the very same team that is being honored by Coal Bowl this year. John also coached all levels of minor hockey, including high school hockey. John coached the very successful "New Waterford Jets Junior "A" Hockey team for years and the "New Waterford Cavaliers Hockey Club" at the senior level. John's volunteer efforts were not only confined to sports. He has organized travel groups at Breton Education Centre since 1976. Since that year he has taken 17 groups to Europe, one group to the Northwest Territories, and another to British Columbia. John served as Student Council Advisor at Breton Education Centre from 1971-76.
John's volunteer efforts extended beyond his first love - students and school. He has been very active in the community throughout his life. He has been a member of the New Waterford Rotary Club, Mount Carmel Parish Council, and Past President of the Mount Carmel Auditorium Committee. John has served as District Coordinator of the Nova Scotia School Athletic Federation for several terms and presently serves on the Board of Governors of the Nova Scotia School Athletic Federation. This group oversees interscholastic sport and its entire operation for the province.
John and his wife Cheryl have two sons, Peter and Chris, and a granddaughter, Hannah Danielle, who is the light of his life, and it is with great respect that the Coal Bowl Board of Directors name John Angione a Division Chairperson for Coal Bowl 2004.

Saskatoon, SKKenny Timmons is a valued member of the Scotchtown-River Ryan community. Kenny began his athletic career in 1942 playing softball as a member of the Canadian Army. In 1951, he began his long and distinguished coaching career, coaching the "St. Agnes Midgets Baseball" team.
In 1953, Kenny was a coach of the "New Waterford Junior Baseball team. In 1955, this team won the Cape Breton Championship. From 1956-58, Kenny coached the New Waterford Giants Baseball team and in 1959, as an assistant coach, the New Waterford Giants won the Cape Breton Championship, the Nova Scotia Championship, and the Maritime Championship. In 1960, Kenny coached the Sydney Mines Ramblers to the Cape Breton Championship.
From 1961-65, Kenny coached the "New Waterford Olands Baseball team. In 1965, they won the Cape Breton Championship, the Nova Scotia Championship, and the Maritime Title.
In the late 1960's, Kenny began coaching softball. He was coach of the "Scotchtown Raiders" which won several Nova Scotia and Maritime Championships in the early 70's. In the mid 70's and early 80's, Kenny coached the Sydney Schooners, Lingan Miners, and Scotchtown Specials; teams he led to several championships.
Kenny coached the "New Waterford Hawks" for several years and concluded his coaching career with this team at age 65. Kenny was involved in sports in other capacities. He served as President of the New Waterford Fastball League for 15 years. He was President of the New Waterford Commercial Hockey League for 11 years, and coached two teams, the Scotchtown Royals and Modern Aluminum Flyers. He was also one of the organizers of the New Waterford & District Floor Hockey League.
Throughout his life, Kenny volunteered hundreds of hours to help people in need. Kenny organized and chaired benefit concerts for victims of fires, individuals requiring operations or treatments outside our area and people hospitalized due to severe illness. Kenny was famous for putting a volunteer group together at short notice to help anyone in need. Kenny was married to his wife, Celeste, for 54 years, and has 6 children - 3 boys and 3 girls.
It is with honor that the Coal Bowl Board of Directors name Kenny Timmons a Division Chairperson for Coal Bowl 2004.
