Lucius joined the New Waterford Strands Intermediate Basketball Team in 1945 after developing his skills in the Saint Agnes Minor Basketball Leagues.
He was especially good around the basket; making his "twirling" shots with either hand.

The Strands were inducted into the Nova Scotia Sports Hall of Fame for this feat.
Lucius was married to the former "Flo" MacKinnon who deceased him. They had one child, Frankie.
