While at BEC she helped lead her basketball team to becoming the Highland Regional champions in 1992-93 and her soccer team into the championships in 1993-94. It was because of her abilities both on and off the field/court that she was named MVP of both the AAA soccer and basketball teams and became BEC's female athlete of the year in 1993-94. During the summer of 1993 Shauna laced up for the Cape Breton KIXX Sr. Women's Soccer team which won the Atlantic Title and played at Nationals. She is current:y recognized as being one of the best soccer referees in the province as she is active in the CIS, AUS and Nova Scotia Soccer Leagues. In the past several years Shauna has refereed soccer at the Canada Games, various Club Team National tournaments, National Allstar Tournaments, international tournaments and international friendly matches which involved teams from Germany China, Brazil and the USA.

She is a Soccer Nova Scotia Referee instructor, assessor and mentor.
