2012 Honorees

The 1969-1970 New Waterford Jets  Midget Hockey Team

This Team Was New Waterfords 1St Hockey Team To Win A Nova Scotia Title Under The Maha. (Maritime Amature Hockey Association). These Teenagers Formed This Independent Championship Team Without Any Sponsors And Reached Their Dreams And Goals By Joining The Provincial Midget League. Since New Waterford Did Not Have An Indoor Rink In 1969, They Did Most Of Their Practicing On Outdoor Ponds. Many Great Memories Were Scored At Places Such As Kehoe’s Lake (Near Sydney's Radar Base) And The “Newbridge” Inriver Ryan. They Had The Rare Privilege Of Practicing At The Glace Bay Rink Where They Played Their League Games. It Was There That They Won That Championship Game 5 To 2 Against Bridgewater, The Mainland's Strongest Team. Coal Bowl Is Very Proud To Honor These Team Players.
